Stillness

Father God, tame my wild heart. Quiet the rebellion inside me as I shake from the pressures of the world around me. Free me from the definitions imposed on me. The standards I stress to uphold. The wrestling choice of paths before me and the uncertain future I strive to clarify. Take the weight of performance off my shoulders as I remember I do not need to do this on my own. Help pry open the grip I have on control and the fears associated with letting go. Give me a heart that trusts fully, loves unconditionally and joyfully takes up the cross before me. Blanket me in the remembrance that you are sovereign and have a way paved, and through the valley of doubt, I know you are with me. You are my portion, my prize. My certainty forever.

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls” Matthew 11:28-29
