Rebellion

Sometimes I don't want to be the faithful servant. Sometimes I don’t want to be the one dwelling in the valley. Sometimes I don’t want to live a life of self-denial or for a heaven I cannot see. Sometimes I don’t want to love my enemies. Sometimes I don’t want to do anything other than exactly what I want to do. Am I being too real? Does anyone else ever feel like they want to be removed from the “Strongest Soldiers” list and onto the “Highly Favored and Blessed” list? Can’t we just reap the harvest of joy and prosperity without walking the straight and narrow calling of the Godly?

Living the Christian life is ultimately about all of these things. Loving Christ and modeling His life. It is counter-cultural. It is against everything the world says we need to be, do or have. It is the road less traveled, but ultimately it is the only way to find eternal glory made perfect by the promise that in Jesus we are fully known, loved and entirely enough. And in that, I find my peace.

“But he said to me, “My Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness”. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weakness, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong”. 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
